In the opinion of some, the lawsuits served a purpose. The division already existed when they were implemented.

At this point, it would be a huge mistake to try collecting past controversial funds from the very people who have now stepped forward to help bail out the AFM - a quick way to destroy the harmony and resolve that presently exists. There is much work to be done without adding this problem to the mix.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7593605037237677402.post-12385944868324739492010-11-10T17:42:50.890-05:002010-11-10T17:42:50.890-05:00Convention 2007: Tom Lee bought the presidency by ...Convention 2007: Tom Lee bought the presidency by guaranteeing himself an overwhelming majority of Canadian votes with a cash bailout of the Montreal local.

It's a stretch to say 80% of the members kept re-electing Lee "and that payment for that "folly has now come due".

In fact, the two lawsuits brought by Parmenter and Rishik were the foolish move that Lee used to promote his insane battle with RMA.

On this blog I urged settlement and discussion to avoid lawsuits. This has to apply to both sides. In fact, Lee used the lawsuits as further ammunition in his perverse tirade against anyone that questioned his authority. It can be said that the lawsuits themselves were folly, feeding Lee the means to further divide our membership.

His presidency ill served the 80% (rank & file) and the 20% (player conferences).

Lawsuits cost money and payment to the AFM for that folly is now due. Incidentally, the 20% also includes freelancers not affiliated with the Player Conferences.

If Hair can't sell financial reform and coax extra (hopefully short-term) resources from the 20% that do work full-time in the music profession, then the 80% will be left with a bankrupt Union.

Incompetency at the AFM during Lee's administration left thousands of dollars uncollected. Should the Hair administration be successful, then things will improve for all.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
